How is usage measured?
Each study a research institution actually receives is metered as one $1 delivery (covering up to 2 GB, then $0.50/GB), measured independently of both the sender and the receiver and reconcilable by either party. Usage is totaled and billed at the end of each month. Sending is always free for clinical institutions.
Is there a minimum or upfront fee?
No. There is nothing to pay upfront and no subscription fee — research institutions are billed only for the studies they actually receive, totaled at the end of each month. Transfers never pause waiting on a prepaid balance.
Does billing ever contain PHI?
No. Billing is derived solely from delivered studies and opaque transfer identifiers. Patient identifiers never enter the billing path.
What happens if a transfer fails or is partial?
You're only charged for studies actually delivered. Incomplete or disputed transfers are flagged and excluded from charges.
Who can use Aegis?
Aegis is available to qualifying healthcare and research organizations worldwide, subject to a signed BAA or equivalent data-protection agreement for the regions you operate in.
